Teachers are indisputably the crucial tools in education.
What if every teacher had tools and the training to make the most of their classroom?
What if every student was prepared for the new, globalised world economy?
Elun means to give. At Elun, our goal is to share, to give, skills and agency to teachers on-the-ground in developing countries.
Elun is made up of working teachers in the USA, UK, and other countries who are working to distribute professional best practice with a focus on critical thinking, problem solving, and inquiry skills.
Our vision is for teachers around the world to have the skills and motivation to be agents of change in their communities. We want to help them advocate for themselves and their students and be the real sustainable change in their countries. Teachers are
the crucial tools in education, but despite good intentions many teachers in the developing world don't have the proper training to pass on necessary skills in the classroom. Elun will train teachers to better prepare their students to operate in a global
world. Students with better trained teachers will learn critical thinking and problem solving skills, helping them develop their communities from the ground-up.
Since 2012, Elun has successfully run projects in conjunction with NGOs in Pakistan, Rwanda, and Tanzania. We always leave with heavy hearts, wishing we could stay longer.
This year, we are branching out and working directly with schools in rural Tanzania. On our training trip last year, we met a few entreprenuerial Tanzanians. One of them astonished us with his dedication to Pangani, the rural district he came from. Ally
Said insisted we return and complete a training for him with focus on teaching the secondary teachers in this area.
We want to go. We will take time away from vacations and loved ones to serve Ally because we believe in his vision for Tanzania. We admire his selfless dedication to his work.
We need you to help us. For us to fly to Tanzania and conduct the trainings, we need funding. Since we aren't working with a nonprofit or NGO this time, we need it from you.
Our goal is to raise enough for two trainers to go to Tanzania and conduct a three work workshop in Pangani and in Dar es Salaam. Any excess funds past our tipping point will be given directly to Ally to donate technology, books, uniforms, and other needed
resources to the schools.
Elun is a nonprofit in the process of registering in the States as a 501(c)3 organization. We need your help for our first crowdfunding campaign.
Please help us fulfill the request of Tanzanian teachers working for change on the ground.
Please help us serve Tanzanian children by giving their teachers necessary training and skills.
