Who We Are
Camp Contact is a theme camp that offers classes in Contact Improvisation Dance, Acro Yoga and other somatic and transformational workshops. We have recently expanded our focus to include that of Exploring Human Connection, through Authenticamp's famous
Authentic Relating Games and Naked Heart's exploration of the divine feminine and masculine.
Our Project and Why It Matters
Over the past four years at Burning Man, Camp Contact has been fortunate enough to be nearby the Steam Bath Project, and has supported this steambath with staffing and dues. This year we're in a new village, HoneySuckle 'Hood, in a new location (2:30 and
E) and we realize how important the steambath is to our villiage's experience and the greater neighborhood's comfort.
Steambaths (for people who haven't been in one on the playa) are one of the most enjoyable ways for people to refuel and get clean during the burn. All of a sudden, you can breathe through your nose again! After days of horrid dry heat that strips your
body of all its moisture, the steambath surrounds your body with nurturing water and makes you feel human again. It is a great way to take care of your body after a day of dust and dirt.
We've reached out to our friends at the Steam Bath Project, and they're helping us to build our own Steam Bath to share with the community! There aren't many steam baths on the playa, and there are always long lines for the ones that are open-- the more
baths, the shorter the lines, the more clean people, and the more happy burners in BRC. We need your help to cover our expenses for getting the structure built and putting together the heating elements, benches, and shade, as well as the water, grey water
disposal, and fuel for heating.
Best news yet, is that once Camp Contact builds this steam bath, we'll be able to bring it to Regional Events such as Playa Del Fuego, FrostBurn, Transformus, Freeform, and more!
Please help us make the Steam Bath at Camp Contact a reality! Note: Anyone coming to our camp will be able to enjoy the steambath, not just camp and village members.
