TIPPING POINT:
Expansion:
Hired treks to expand to more schools = 200
I plan on visiting Nepal this summer to expand the program to more schools. The more schools involved with TTT the more opportunity there is for teacher and student growth. While at the village, I plan to stay with a host family for a few days and get to know them. I will also provide them with a financial incentive for having me and other future teachers.
Marketing:
Advertisement design – 200
Facebook and Google advertising – 400
The company has been created and we now need to build awareness. We recognize that it takes a very specific type of person to actively pursue an opportunity like Trek to Teach, and we must show the program to as many people as possible. To do this, we must expand our marketing efforts.
Administrative:
Go Abroad and other sites = 400
501(c)3 = 300
Granting services = 50
To build further credibility, it is important for TTT to become a member of a few different websites, including GoAbroad.com. To receive grants, TTT is applying for 501(c)3 certification which will make the non-profit into an Government recognized charity. We will also join a few services that provides regular updates on new grants.
Offerings:
Fundraiser in Oregon = 250
While TTT believes that the addition of a foreign teacher will assist the Nepali school and the village, we also want to actively help provide them with up to date text books and school supplies. We aim to have another fundraiser in the state of Oregon to achieve this funding. If we want the proceeds from the fundraiser to go completely to TTT’s goal of purchasing school necessities, we must raise money prior to the event, to pay for it.
BEYOND THE TIPPING POINT:
Once our fundraiser exceeds the tipping point, funds will be used for the following, in the order they appear:
Monetary collection for scholarship awards in the school:
Scholarships = 900, 100 per student
Our teachers will be given funds to provide to a few students who they have identified as the most entrepreneurial. It takes a courage to leave the village they were raised in, and with additional monetary support, the challenge of this leap will be mitigated. The funds will be used for further education. We are not supporting departure from the village, we are supporting the opportunity to do this if the student (and family) wants this.
Media Expansion:
Hire a new media correspondent = 700
A longer, more detailed visit to the villages of Nepal. By truly understanding the needs of those living in the villages, TTT will be able to accommodate their needs with more effectiveness. This will be a mission for a journalist, photographer, and or artist. TTT would offer payment for a person to live with a family, and learn about their lives. They will be expected to create a project to be used directly by Trek to Teach.
Marketing Efforts:
Expanded Advertisement and Awareness:
Material Costs = 1,700
While online resources would prove to be beneficial, marketing to this specified niche might not be easy. TTT would use additional funds for design of print advertisements, and printing costs for universities on the west coast. Design and order of shirts for TTT fellows. Purchase of business cards for administration. Entry into school job fairs/volunteering fairs.
Social Media correspondent:
Student Champion = $300
TTT would like to hire a few people to champion social media efforts from schools on the west coast. For a small payment they will be able to notify all of their friends (potentially 1000’s of new impressions)
