Recently I decided to make a pocket for a friend and sew it on anything she wanted for her birthday present. I got so many compliments on the pockets that an idea was born! I could start my own company making pockets for people. And so I did! Now I need
help to create my first line of pockets: The India Line.
The India Line will consist of 20 custom designed pockets. This is really a personal venture and my aim is not to get rich but to make people happy. I will be using all of the money to buy toys for children in small villages in India.
I'm retired and nomadic so all I do is travel, and frequently end up in small villages. I 've always want to just show up wih a truck full of toys for all the kids. And maybe other people would like to give the kids toys too, but aren't going to India. So
I thought I could just play the role of delivery man and offer people a cool pocket or a polaroid of a happy, toy handed child to sweeten the deal. If successful, I'll do it again in different places all over the world.
How It Will Work
The first 20 people to donate $20 will receive a custom designed pocket, with a story about where the pocket came from, where it's been, and any other interesting information.
The first 20 people to donate $5 will receive a Polaroid picture of a child with a toy you helped give him.
100% of the money donated will be used on the purchase of toys. Not cheap plastic toys either. Toys that challenge and inspire like musical instruments, telescopes, kaleidoscopes, art supplies, puzzles, and so forth.
All of the travel expenses, vehicle rentals, and pocket postage will be covered by me.
I usually have a few photojournalist or travel bloggers around me so i will definitely provide links to the story of the adventure. I'll write a blog myself if I need to. A lot about this project is built on trust and belief in the good of the human spirit.
So I'd advise that if you think I'm going to run off and spend the money on ice cream sandwiches and boat rides, then you probably just shouldn't contribute.
Also I'd love to hear from everyone, hear your stories, advice on good toys or what colours you want on your pocket. I'd like to get to know you a bit so it feels more like I'm taking you, with me, to the village and not just something that your money bought.
Love and thanks
Lenny
