We need to raise the funding for the initial pre-launch work for the World Congress for a New Civilization (WCNC). The WCNC is founded in response to the urgent, arguably existential, needs of this historical moment. A meaningfully identifiable sense of global community and a collaborative mechanism for shared global values and principles - underpinned by a new level of inclusive credibility - is required. The first week-long gathering, the representatively-prepared Declaration of Civilization, and the ongoing WCNC platform will help humanity to move forward with more clarity, conviction, and confidence in ways that impact all life. Developing a Declaration of Civilization and a new global institution built around it is an exceptionally ambitious goal. We are under no illusion that the process will be easy. Yet, we also believe that through a careful and comprehensive approach we can together identify a set of core human aspirations and that which defines a sustainable and civilized civilization.
The world has institutions such as the United Nations and the World Economic Forum (“Davos”), or even TED, etc., that seek to convene people from around the world. They are either structured to gather designated representatives of the current governments of each nation (usually one group of one type of political perspective from within a given nation)... or they are gatherings of the most powerful and influential people or they are from, for example, the technological or cultural elite. In short, although they often do great work in the world with immense social impact, they are not very representative of the full range of diversity of opinion and perspective and history that could both inform their conclusions or bolster their credibility beyond the represented groups themselves.
Our emphasis will be on the detailed and vetting process to nominate and select the representatives to attend from around the world — roughly based on national population, with half being women and a third being under the age of 35… comprising a mix of established and emerging leaders (and/or those with leadership potential). We will have carefully selected nominating committees from each nation, and an intense review/selection process. Creating a platform that is unprecedentedly representative of the diversity of humanity will itself be a major differentiating addition to the landscape, not even counting the catalytic social impact such a new platform could, over time, have on the world.
Founded by Jim Clark, whose accomplished and innovative career in political organizing, strategy, and institution building in technology, business, politics, and the non-profit sector has prepared him for this challenge ( https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesclark5/ ), the WCNC will be built in careful stages. We are kicking off Stage One. And, we truly need your support.
