LIVE.
All cats deserve to live a life in harmony. They deserve to have a loving home, two- and four-legged friends to play with, cozy blankets to relax on and many trees to climb!
LOVE.
If you love cats - like I do - you'll know for sure the love you get in return is such a wonderful thing! A purring cat on your lap, a gentle "meow" in the mornings, a rosy nose to nudge your head - BEST FEELING EVER.
LISTEN.
Listen to my story, and I'll explain why it is so important to me to bring this project to life.
Listen to your inner voice, and it'll tell you that the love of a cat is as pure as can be.
Listen to my music, and you'll support me to help cats all over the world.

WHY CATS?
I think cats are magical creatures. Graceful and gentle, yet stubborn and powerful, they have a subtle way of telling us: „We are not from this world. We wander amongst you, willing to love and care about you if you treat us kindly, but doubtlessly knowing we’re too good for mankind.“ And yes, they are. Like Mark Twain said: "If man could be crossed with the cat, it would improve man, but deteriorate the cat."
Cats are angels - with whiskers instead of wings. Their love is pure, but you must first earn that trust. They are caring, if you care, but they never forget to love themselves. Cats know you can’t appreciate someone‘s love - truly - if you don’t know how to love yourself. They know living in the present moment is the true miracle of life, and they know how to make the best out of a bad situation. Loss, pain, fear - they mourn, but move on. They rest, but keep fighting. They forgive, but never forget. Cats know they are gods compared to the species of men - and they are very good at making clear that we ought to be humbled to be in their presence. Just as strong and fearless as they are, as fragile they are on the other hand. And they’re proud. Very proud. They wouldn’t ask for help, even if they could. Because they think they can take over the world on their own. But there’s one thing they don’t think about: cats are not invincible. They are not Egyptian goddesses anymore. And what exactly are nine lives good for - if you can’t live them in harmony? A loving home? A caring family? Cats do suffer. Somewhere. In this very moment. Each and every day. Because after all, even angels fall sometimes.
I wanna be someone to catch them. What about you?

WHY I WANT TO LAUNCH THIS PROJECT.
I‘ve always loved cats. There’s something so unique and mysterious about them. At the age of 8, my parents granted me my greatest wish and got me a cat. I called him Nero Corleone - named after my favorite children's book about cats - and I loved him more than words can say. We were stuck on each other.
Both still kids, we soon became more than playmates. We became best friends, brother and sister. We became soulmates, and I have never shared a special bond like this with any other animal ever since.
He was the first to sense whenever I was sad, or hurt, and he would come and sit on my lap to comfort me. He was the first to hear my poems and songs whenever I'd written something new, and he would sit next to me, or on my e-piano, as though he would critically listen to my new pieces of artwork. I would spend hours of talking to him, and although he couldn't really talk back, he did, in a way. Vice versa, I felt I knew exactly what he was thinking or feeling just by looking at him. Our way of communicating with each other wasn't audible. But sensible. We were bonded for a lifetime.
After 17 years of waking up by my side every day, Nero became ill. Age-related, he suffered from kidney insuffiency, and he got weaker and weaker throughout the months. Using the last of his strenghts, he would try to hop on my lap so he could be near me, and I'd pick him up and hold him dear, listening to the sound of his little heart beating. It wasn't long before I realised I had to say Goodbye to my best friend. Nero's vet said it was about time to euthanize him, for he was slowly dehydrating from inside. He was put to sleep in my arms. It broke my heart.
The love for a cat, and the love I got in return, shaped my personality. It proved to me that animals have a soul - and a heart of gold. The friendship I was able to share with an animal made it clear to me that I want to give something back. I want to set an example of how to be a "better" person. A "good" person. A person to help make this world a better place, even if it's just a drop in the ocean.

WHO I AM.
My name is Sandra Elizabeth, I'm a professionally trained actress and vocalist, and I work on a project-related basis as a freelance singer, actress and voice & speech coach in Linz and Vienna. I like to write songs and stories, go to the movies and spend time with loved ones - including animals :)
I am now a proud mother of three cats again:
from left to right:
Kira, 4yrs., rescue cat from the shelter
Simba, 4,5 yrs., rescue cat from the shelter
Ketschy, 8 yrs., adopted cat from a divorced family

MY VISION.
I always wanted to start some good by doing what I love to do. Music is the language of my heart, and my heart is full of love for cats, so I thought: why not combine these things with each other? Actually, my dream is to establish a cat sanctuary one day, but - financially speaking - I guess it's just not the right time. I'd need so much money to maintain the sanctuary, pay skilled staff and vets, and - working as a volunteer at local animal shelters myself - I've seen how hard it is for institutions like these to survive. So I came up with the idea of supporting such institutions - especially cat rescue centres and cat sanctuaries - and hope that (if my music explodes like a firework shooting across the sky...) I'll have enough money one day to establish "my" cat park anyways! But all in its proper time... let's take this step by step.

ABOUT THE PROJECT.
Maecoon is gonna be different. In many ways. Usually, I write dark, and mainly sad music, but with Maecoon, I want to create more uplifting pieces of music, music full of hope and ease; soft, gentle, but memorable Indie/Folk tunes to mirror how the love I've received from my cat(s) has helped me ease my own pain and difficulties in life.
Either way, I will stay true to my approach to writing music - I want my lyrics to be profound, my message to be honest, and my voice to be touching.
We're full of dead music on mainstream media today.
We need something deeper.
We need something more.
Something new.
WHY I NEED YOUR HELP.
I'm an independent artist. I work as a freelancer. I hold the view that what you do for a living should be something that makes yourself happy and helps making others happy at the same time. This attitude pays a lot of positive energy, but it also takes its toll. Money comes irregularly, many artists are overworked and underpaid. Luckily, I also work as a voice & speech coach and a wedding singer, so I do have at least a bit of a regular income. However, it's not enough to fund a project like this - even less to establish a cat sanctuary.
THAT'S WHY I NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

THE FACTS.
Help me release an Indie/Folk CD featuring 5 self-written songs and raise funds and awareness for cats in need.
- 60% of your funds will be donated to certified cat rescue centres, shelters and/or sanctuaries ON POINT (see a list of my chosen institutions below)
- The other 40% will be used to produce the CD!
The majority of the CD's financial outcome will be donated to help cats in need as well, and I'll also put some money in my cash box to nurture my vision of establishing a cat sanctuary one day
A VOICE FOR OTHERS.
Since cats - and animals in general - do not have a voice of their own to talk, to ask for help, to beg for rescue; I want to lend them my voice.
I wanna be their voice to support them - abandoned cats, stray cats,
tortured cats, special needs cats - so they can finally find refuge in
the arms of safety, care, and LOVE.
Are you in?
