Chengeta Wildlife was founded seven years ago to provide support in the form of knowledge and skills, taking into account the local resources available.
Our mission is to support the protection of wildlife through locally led and lasting anti-poaching solutions including:
- Ensuring Rangers have the tools, the skills and the knowledge to continue protecting the wildlife long after trainers have left
- Protecting wildlife which requires cost effective, long term and empowering solutions
- Empowering communities to protect their own social and natural environments inevitably leads to protection of the wildlife and the conservation areas
In 2020, Chengeta Wildlife has provided investigations, analytics, training and mentoring support to close to one thousand rangers in over 100,000 square kilometres of protected areas in six countries, to continue to keep rangers safe, communities safe and prevent illegal activity – we need your support.
This new fundraising campaign will help Chengeta continue to train rangers and empower communities to protect wildlife into 2021 and beyond in both our existing projects and in scoping out new projects that really need our expertise and support. We’ve been invited to make a needs assessment in some exciting & emerging new projects and funds raised will help to investigate how Chengeta can MAKE A DIFFERENCE in training a new set of rangers to protect the wildlife and empower the local communities.
Please help us to continue to make an important difference to wildlife in the future when you support our efforts by pledging for the fantastic rewards in our fundraising campaign. Thank you.
Donations are tax deductible under US law and Dutch law.
Our Vision
Locally led and lasting wildlife protection that recognises humans as part of the ecosystem. It is intelligently focussed, competently and judicially applied, cost effective and harmonised with all other existing wildlife protection efforts.
How We Work
Chengeta maintains a simple operating principle:
- We Harmonise all efforts with local governments, partners and programs
- We Empower communities to support efforts countering illegal wildlife trade
- We Analyse and investigate all existing information and data to understand the holistic situation
- We Train and develop local wildlife protection capacity
- We Mentor and support anti-poaching operations
- All of this to support the protection of wildlife
We have fantastic plans for 2021 to train more rangers and protect more wildlife across Africa, but we really need your help! So far our work has been funded exclusively by individuals who decided to take a stand with us to protect wildlife and combat poaching. If you aren’t able to give financially, please share our story.
We can’t do this work without you.
