Bindle Bags is a social venture dedicated to raising awareness of and fighting against homelessness in America. Homeless people are employed to make women's handbags that are styled after the bindle sack people used to tote in the
early 20th century.
For each bag they make, employees receive 15% of the revenues. However, they are required to make a minimum of eight bags per day, which is equivalent to $7.50/hr. Anything they make beyond that only increases the equivalent hourly
wage!
The homeless shelter they stay at will receive a minimum 20% of the bag revenue.
Laminated biography cards written personally by the maker of each bag will be included on the tag, thanking the customer for the difference he or she has made in his or her purchase.
Bindle Bags gives homeless people back control over their destinies, while also giving customers the opportunity to stand for something more through what they wear.
