Do you want more sharing in your community?
Get involved now as one of the first supporters of this exciting new campaign before we launch in the winter of 2012/13. I Share is a not-for-profit project that is seeking your support for its pilot this
fall.
Our goal
Through the I Share signage campaign we wish to create vibrant communities around the world where neighbours and coworkers know each other and share resources.
Signs, buttons and stickers stating "I Share" will identify and connect people seeking opportunities to: share use of property, pool resources, co-own, co-operate and/or exchange.
Why share?
To save money: access affordable housing by co-owning a home, or reduce costs with a food-buying club or a childcare co-op.
To keep our planet green: reduce the need for manufacture of consumer goods like tools or appliances, or reduce air pollution by carpooling.
To save time: by alternating yard care or dog-walking responsibilities with neighbors.
To build community: face-to-face interactions between neighbours, coworkers, and others nearby build trust and a sense of belonging that makes healthy communities.
How will I Share work?
We plan to make downloadable I Share signs free through our website (www.isharesign.org). The website will also provide tips and resources on how to start sharing: ideas for starting conversations with others, examples of things and ways to share, sample written
sharing agreements and links to other resources, both online and off.
Who’s doing this?
We have momentum and a great team of volunteers, 10 lead and 34 on-call. Our team has expertise in community development, marketing, design and other critical areas, and we have partnerships and supporters in key NGOs, governments and businesses. I Share is
a project of the new Fluxville Community Development Society.
