My name is Ferenc Makray, I was born in Budapest on 21 August 1991. I graduated high school there and played waterpolo for twelve years. Due to my performance in sports I was able to acquire the Austrian citizenship one year ago. Thus, I now have a dual citizenship-Hungarian and Austrian.
Before pursuing my bachelor studies in Salzburg, I had the opportunity to go to Australia for three month to play waterpolo after my A-levels. After that experience I did an apprenticeship as joiner in Vienna for three years. In order to apply my skills and to develop further, I enrolled at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences with the course ‘Forest Products Technology & Timber Construction’ (BSc.).
Now in the fourth semester it is compulsory to serve an internship. As a result of my work and educational experience and my interest in helping those who need it, I did research especially on aid organizations. So I found the Karmalaya organization. Maybe I can utilize my knowledge and my competence to help where it is needed by doing an internship via Karmalaya. I am very enthusiastic about going abroad and getting to know new people and new cultures, and most of all about the company’s idea of combining the beautiful and the useful.
I want to do this voluntary work not only because of the mandatory internship, but for many other reasons too. I really believe that I can contribute to make the world a better place. I am convinced that every person is able to make a difference. I can change things with my own hands. Everybody can. You too, as a single person. You don`t need much to do it. If you look into yourself, then you will find the genuine willingness and temptation to do it. You can make it. You can StartSomeGood!
Lots of people just do not believe it. They think ‘I am too small, too weak to make the difference’. But it is wrong. There are plenty of examples in history, when one person made a huge difference. Sadly there are often bad instances, but we have to focus on the good things, on the things that are bringing us forward. Even if you do not become famous by what you do; if you do it with the purpose to make the world a better place, it will matter and you will do the right thing. There are plenty of humans who are working on it and you do not know them at all, but they are trying very hard to make a difference. They are the unsung heroes, however, the result of their work is visible!
I truly believe that the human being has the genuine desire (or purpose) to help and take care for those who are in need. Thus, it is of utmost importance to aim at achieving a more livable society in which we live. I try to live my life according the above mentioned ideas, and thus I need your help!
The video is from Matthias; he is from Karmalaya and was in Nepal in January. He recorded this video in order to portray the current situation.
I thank you very much for taking time to read about my project and would appreciate your support very much!
