About This Project

WHO WE ARE

Girls for Girls USA,
G4GUSA, is an organization committed to sustainable solutions created in partnership with local communities to empower girls. We believe that change for one generation of girls can positively impact the future of the community and its approach to the girl
child.

The Girls for Girls movement began in May 2010 when 40 women from around the world heard one teacher’s story and her wish for girls in her community.

Eva shared what it is like for girls growing up in the rural area of Londiani, Kenya. Here, girls drop out of school at a higher rate than boys. The reason is shocking – girls miss one week of school per month because they do not have access to sanitary
products to manage monthly menstruation. They quickly fall behind and often drop out.

As we took a closer look, we realized that the solution goes beyond sanitary products; it includes empowering girls with knowledge, tools, access to products and infrastructure, and the ability to generate sustainable income so that they can create the future
they desire.

Infrastructure

To date, we have worked with our partner,
Friends of Londiani, to reach approximately 900 girls, but we are just getting started. Funds raised through Start Some Good will allow

G4GUSA to finalize its tax-exempt status and access grants to extend our work, improve our programs, and reach more girls.

$2,000 Tipping Point Goal




OUR GOAL


We need $2,000 to complete the registration of our 501(c) status and cover our start up costs. Once we pass our Tipping Point, we will not only be able to start tapping into a bigger pool of resources available to 501(c)3 organizations, but we'll also be
able to start evaluating and expanding the work that we've already begun in 22 schools in Londiani.



On average, it costs $18,500 per school to launch the G4G education program, upgrade toilet facilities, provide 50 girls with a one-year supply of re-usable sanitary products, and maintain a system of ongoing support. This is just the tip of the iceberg. These
schools also need training and resources to help girls launch their own income generation projects and funding to reach additional girls.
