OUR STORY
We are a few engaged citizens who want to explore important social issues through free screenings of award-winning documentaries, and what we can do about them in discussions that follow. It's our hope that this first screening will launch a series.
OUR PROJECT
The first film we hope to show is about the remarkable story of Rojava in Syria (see description below).
"The Accidental Anarchist: One man’s remarkable journey: from diplomat to anarchist. British diplomat Carne Ross worked on Iraq and its WMD, and resigned from the government over its lies before the 2003 invasion. His extraordinary personal and political odyssey culminates in a remarkable encounter with new forms of democracy in the midst of war – in Rojava, Syria. A profound examination of the political and economic problems that confront the world."
If our campaign is successful, we will be screening the film at the Al Whittle Theatre in Wolfville, at 7pm on Saturday, October 14. We will host a discussion after the film, to explore if/how we might learn and apply insights we gain.
WHY IT MATTERS
There are many informative, thought-provoking films that never make it to local theatres. We'd like to change that, and go one step further by engaging the audience in meaningful discussions about what we can do to help address the issues raised in these films. In doing so, we hope to provoke new thinking and local action about creating a more just, sustainable, caring society.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
To make these films as accessible as possible, and provide free screens, we're looking to cover the screening fees and venue rental through crowd-funding. So, if you can give, please do.
