Our Story
In the dairy industry, a mother cow's dream is to be able to raise and live out her life with their own babies, but this is rarely ever the case. Wildwood Farm Sanctuary is home to six former dairy calves. Three of the calves (steers), Ferd, Blitzen and Valentino, were just one day old when we rescued them three years ago.
When we arrived at the dairy farm to rescue them, their tiny foreheads were still wet with green paint (which you can still see in the bottom-right photo below), tagging them as "byproduct" for a veal farmer to take away. We scooped them up just in time, and after being gently placed in the backseat of our car and wrapped in blankets, they were on their way to a lifetime of peace. Our all-volunteer staff bottle fed them, nurtured them, and raised them to become big and healthy.
Our Project
In the dairy industry, a "steer" would never live to see his third birthday. As these boys have become bigger, their need for larger and reinforced fencing here at the sanctuary to keep them happy and save is essential.
How You Can Help
You can honor your own beloved mother by donating toward this special project at Wildwood. Any amount is meaningful and deeply appreciated.
From Ferd, Blitzen, Valentino and all the other former dairy calves living here at Wildwood, THANK YOU for your extraordinary compassion.
