A Paradise Under Threat
The Indonesian island of Bali is a top destination on any travelers' list, especially if living in Australia, its closest neighbor. But plastic trash is a terrible issue there. What
if we could use Art of all forms and Entrepreneurship as a way to positively influence on habits?
We all love Bali and its unique culture, spiritual energy and amazing landscapes. Sadly, it has suffered from uncontrollable growth and the lack of education of its own population has resulted on practices that harm both the health and the environment of
its inhabitants. New forms of packages have replaced banana leaves, but how to handle it has not been that fast. As a result, It is extremely sad to see this plastic trash everywhere, including in burning pile.
This is the side of the rice field on my way to work every morning. The office is on the left side of this field….
Creativity As A Change Agent
Do you believe that Art, Music and Social Entrepreneurship has an amazing power? We do! All those creative minds have a lot to offer to make a change.
This is a recording we did with Okky
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete" (R.B. Fuller). Like Fuler, we believe in actions “From the bottom to the top”, or in other words, from the “citizen
to the officials who govern”, is the most efficient way to change things. Then the authorities will tag along.
What will exactly be TrashStock doing:
Education about waste management is one way to tackle the issue. But there is another powerful way to change mentalities : Art & Music. The TrashStock team strongly believe that We believe that a movement of artists, NGO’s and businesses can partner to create
an energy that will change the Indonesian mentality about what plastic is and how damageable it is for their environment.
We also aim to poser a sense of entrepreneurship by demonstrating that YES, there are ways to make money out of plastic trash. Either with crating recycled product or by selling art.

TrashStock will carry on after the big day! Indeed, our media sponsor,

About the Team
This is a mixed team of international volunteers from Act Global (http://www.act-global.org/), a NGO dedicated to non-formal education, and local volunteers. Joined effort for a wonderful place that Mother Earth created for us all.
*** Julien, volunteer of NGO Act Global, the co-creator of this festival has a background in logistics and Environmental Management Systems and nowadays focusing on helping meaningful causes. He lived for 3 years in Australia where he organized
a Zombie fundraising festival for Halloween bringing a good crowd around two ideas :fun AND purpose. Like many others, he fell in love with the island and its kind population.
