If you care about street art this is for you!
We are creating the Street Art Walk, consisting of 40 mural sites, many of which are 3 stories high! Mural sites will provide close to 4,000 square meters of wall space to street artists of all kinds to express themselves.
We want to hold a Realizing Event and build a sustainable future for the Street Art Walk. The Street Art Walk will be a space were artists can paint their own designs in the public domain, legally! This space will in itself be an example of the positive
force street art can be in the community. An ever evolving, dynamic space that displays the benefits of supporting street art;
urban beautification, tourism, social inclusion.
We believe street art is a legitimate form of art and that we will all gain from artists having the legal space to pursue constructive forms of aerosol art. The Street Art Walk will prove it.
What will it do for the local community?
The Street Art Walk will be located in Katoomba, just west of Sydney. The Street Art walk will be a tourist attraction for the local economy, bringing visitors and much needed foot traffic into the Katoomba CBD. Along with renowned international and
national artists, the space will display the works for emerging local artist, making a valuable contribution to the health and vitality of the local arts community!
Get on board!

to paint their own designs!
So we need YOU to do three things:

- Tell people that you support the idea of legal street art! Share this compaign on social media and go old school and tell some friends about it using your mouth and words!
- After you have helped us make this space a reality come and enjoy it! Visit the space and enjoy!
What is the problem with how we are dealing with street art and graffiti now?
People speak of the “graffiti problem”, you don't hear many people talk about the “street art blessing”! In NSW we rely on punitive measures to control graffiti, so far we have been utterly unsuccessful. We have made it illegal for young people to hold a
can of paint; we fine them and even send some to jail. We currently spend over 100 million dollars every year on graffiti management in NSW, and the return on this investment has been a steady increase in malicious damage statistics. This is a poor investment.
We waste vast amounts of tax payers dollar on then endless cycle of cleaning graffiti and jailing young people, but perhaps even more damaging to our community is that we also fail to capitalize on the positive elements of street art that benefit our whole
community. Urban beautification, tourism and increased social inclusion can be street art’s legacy, if we allow it.
Who is organising this?
Street Art Murals Australia (SAMA) is a social venture that exists to support street artists and promot street art as a lagitimate form of art. We have created well over 100 murals for clients such as Sydney Trains, Big Day Out music festival
and Pfizer. We offer three products to our clients: mural work, workshops and consultancy. You can read more about SAMA at streetartmurals.com.au or just watch the video below!
