Sharing Our Pedagogy

Curriculum:

I, together with former unschoolers, will develop a project-based curriculum that helps students engage with the world. Individuals must learn that the world is their classroom. Projects are broken into three categories: introspection, experience, and application. The curriculum will be a framework within which unstudents pursue self-directed learning. We’ll develop instructions and guidance to aid unstudents in the completion of projects which range from starting an organization to living in foreign country.

Book:
I find it unfortunate that college has become a rite of passage to adulthood, not a vehicle for learning. The book will not be an UnCollege untextbook, but rather a meditation on, and suggestions to improve, our failing education system from the perspective of a young educational deviant.

Tour:
I’ve already received invitations to speak at two conferences and have begun sending workshop proposal forms to education conferences around the world. However, participating in such conferences will not generate the user base required for systemic change. I want to take UnCollege to college and universities around the world to show youth how real-world learning can complement their traditional education.
