The story so far...
Digital Storytellers first created Stories For Impact in 2014 to share our passion for making positive change happen using the power of storytelling. Since then, we’ve worked with thousands of people and organisations, sharing our workshops, tools and resources to help them tell their Stories For Impact.
They include people and organisations from all walks of life, such as:
- The (re)generation project - "Young storytellers for nature"
- Co-operative housing communities
- Young women speaking out against domestic violence in their communities
- Go Goldfields young storytellers
- A community group campaigning for the Royal National Park.
- Walk Sew Good - walking across Asia telling the story of our clothes
Now…
We are ready to take it further! We'd love to transform our learning programs into online courses so we can reach even more changemakers all across the world and enable them to tell their own stories.
Just like our face-to-face workshops, our online courses will be fun, inspiring and practical, with the ultimate focus being on how we can support YOU to develop and share world-changing stories using smartphones and affordable technology. And they will be delivered through an easy to use e-learning platform.
But we need your help to make this vision a reality.

What will you learn in the online course?
Stories for Impact Online Course will be based on our four existing training modules. When completed from start to finish, the Course will enable you to explore the most impactful story to tell and empowers you to create short, sharp and shareable films about your change-making project, organisation or cause.
The modules are:
- FIND Your Impact Story: Generate a powerful narrative using ‘The Story Canvas’ - a brainstorming tool, based on the popular Business Model Canvas. Central to our process, it provides a lens for telling stories that resonate with audiences and build into a successful campaign.
- MAKE Your Impact Story: Produce creative content without the need for specialised equipment and a big budget. This is a very hands on module where you will use your smartphone, tablet or DSLR to film interviews and b-roll. The focus is on capturing high quality footage and audio as well as managing a lean and effective production.
- EDIT Your Impact Story: Bring it all together as we demystify the ‘black box’ of post-production. You will learn how to edit films with the popular Adobe Premiere Pro. You will also find easy ways to edit simple content using smartphone apps.
- SHARE Your Impact Story: Learn tools and strategies to connect with audiences in the online and offline world and build momentum behind your cause. You will find out how to identify and engage the most effective individuals, organisations and communities to help you get your story out into the world and create impact.

Courses for individuals..
- Solo: Impact Storyteller Online Course (DIY)
Online DIY course for anyone, anytime, anywhere. Maximum freedom while you skill-up.
Enjoy access to all modules, tasks and course resources in your own time, at your own pace. You will produce a short, sharp, shareable story ready for public viewing. Suits independent changemakers like social entrepreneurs, grassroots changemakers and intra-preneurs who enjoy the flexibility of working on their own. We advise participants to spend approximately 2 hrs per week, over 6 weeks to complete this course (0.5 hr learning modules, 1-2 hr practical tasks, per week).

- Bootcamp: Impact Storytellers Online Course (Facilitated)
Facilitated online course. Be guided and supported all the way by our professional facilitators.
Be guided through a 6-week online program by a professional mentor. On top of full access to all modules, tasks and resources, you will also tune into weekly 30 minute live webinars each week, which will also made available for on-demand playback afterwards. We will support you with feedback on your story ideas and technical questions along the way to making your story. Suits independent changemakers like social entrepreneurs, grassroots changemakers and intrapreneurs who enjoy more structure and working with a cohort. We advise participants to commit 2-3 hrs per week to complete this course (0.5 hr live webinar, 0.5 hr learning modules, 0.5 hr feedback, 1.5-2 hr practical tasks)

Digital Storytellers will work with you and your team to develop the skills to craft powerful stories of your own as well as share knowledge and resources to build the storytelling capacity of others. Suits organisations with a large team or beneficiaries, who would like to be able to build capacity of their team or community on an ongoing basis.

You'll also join a growing community of Impact Storytellers!
ALL course participants will gain FREE ongoing access to a globally-connected online community of Impact Storytellers, where they can connect with other participants, share stories, resources and best practice learnings, and continue their storytelling journey. As part of this community, members also have access to further guidance our mentors and facilitators, who will be available to answer questions.
