About This Project


Our Mission


Safe Haven's mission is to provide a rehabilitative and loving environment for surrendered and stray animals as they search for their forever homes, to assist current pet owners so they are able to permanently provide appropriate care for their animals,
and to engage community members in the issues of pet homelessness, neglect and abuse.


In accordance with its mission statement, the Safe Haven Humane Society and Outreach Center will:


- Offer a safe refuge, nourishment, and opportunity for a better life to unwanted, abused or injured animals


- Promote responsible pet ownership through humane education, spay/neuter, and animal care programs in the area


 - Provide behavioral training advice, low-cost veterinarian care or vouchers, pet food and supplies to struggling pet owners


 - Work to unite lost animals with owners and place unwanted animals in caring homes


 - Build community support so people will value animals and treat them with respect and kindness

Our Goal



With the money raised from this campaign, we hope to complete the 501(c)3 filing process and begin a professional fundraising campaign that will target individuals, community groups, business owners, and corporate donors alike. The bigger goal is to raise enough
funds to put a down payment on a building to house the animal shelter and outreach center. Your donation in any amount will help us reach these goals!



Why This Matters



As long-time animal rescue volunteers, we have witnessed firsthand the need for animal care services in the rural regions of Wisconsin. Rural communities in Western Brown County do not have an animal shelter in close proximity, and feral cats and abandoned
pets are problematic. Additionally, struggling pet owners do not have quick access to low-cost veterinarian services or affordable pet products. We have been networking with other local animal rescue groups and smaller humane organizations to insure Safe Haven
Humane Society and Outreach Center will fill these needs and serve as a true resource for the pets and people in our community!

Use Of Funds

$1,850 Tipping Point Goal

With the incorporation process now finalized, our next step is to file for 501c3 status. This process can be lengthy and expensive.


With two passionate founders and a solid Board of Directors ready to go, we are hoping to raise funds to offset the cost of the nonprofit filing fees and other startup costs so we can proceed with larger fundraising endeavors and get Safe Haven Humane Society
and Outreach Center off the ground within the next few months.


Our tipping point of $1850 represents the amount we need for the nonprofit filing and professional accounting fees, while the total goal of $5,000 will allow us to put together a full-scale fundraising campaign targeting corporate donors and community businesses.
Specifically, we intend to create and distribute folders that include a cover letter, brochure, donor cards, and other information that will be hand delivered to corporate contacts and local business owners.


Our goal is to put a down payment on a shelter facility before the end of 2013, and only a large fundraising endeavor will help us do that.  In the meantime, we are working toward achieving nonprofit status and networking with other local rescue groups and
smaller animal welfare organizations to make this a collaborative project that will fill an unmet need for the pets and people in our community.
