Lah-Lah's Music Room is going to provide fun, educational, specalised early childhood music lessons online.
No matter who you are or where you live you could have a specailsed and fun music program for your child at your fingertips - and you could also help bring music to other children.

(12 lessons) purchased, we will donate one unit to your nominated childcare center or daycare or school.

Music is one of the most important gifts you can give to any child. Did you know that music helps all areas of early childhood development from language skills to coordination, creativity and literacy? Music complements the devlopment of both left and right
hemispheres of the brain. And most importantly - music is fun!
In Australia, due to distance, work commitments and financial constraints, many families don't have access to specialised music classes. So wouldn't it be wonderful if, with the help of today's internet, music lessons could be downloadable to watch and enjoy
at home, on your smart TV, computer, tablet or phone.

You may have seen us jumping and dancing around on screen with video clips on ABC4Kids or Nick Jr. or as part of
Lah-Lah's Adventures the long format TV series that premiered on 7TWO in April and is just about to start on CBeebies in September - or maybe you've been to one of our live concerts, but did you know Lah-Lah began as a music school?
That's right, about 6 years ago a friend of mine at Opera Australia suggested that I start teaching early childhood music classes. I had been singing opera for many years but when my two daughters were born I was looking for work with more family friendly
hours.
I started my first music class and that first class very quickly turned into a school and that one school turned into four schools. Very soon we were teaching over 200 families every week -
Lah-Lah's Music Place. At the end of each term Mark would join me and we would present a little music show for the families. Our families loved these shows and suggested we do a full scale concert, so off we went. We recorded a CD, hired a venue and
staged our first season.
Fast track five years and Lah-Lah is one of Australia's best known and loved preschool groups. We tour throughout Australia doing live shows, we go into schools and daycares with the
Lah-Lah and Buzz Show and more recently we have been teaching regular
Lah-Lah's Music Room classes in preschools.
Lah-Lah's Music Room has been a dream of mine for many years. I have always wanted to write an educational early childroom music curriculum. Children love learning through fun and play and this is something Lah-Lah does so well with new orginal
songs and games.
What is Lah-Lah's Music Room?
Lah-Lah's Music Room is a downloadable/streamable interactive video series of early childhood music lessons for children aged 2-6 and their families. Each lesson, presented by Lah-Lah and Buzz will run approximately 20 minutes and groups of 12 lessons will
be collated as units follwing specific themes. The initial production series will be one unit.
Each 20 minute video lesson has been carefully written to include early childhood musical concepts of fast and slow (tempo), high and low (pitch), loud and soft (dynamics), etc. It's delivered through song, story and focussed listening exercises. The lessons
are routined based with new songs being added every 2nd or 3rd lesson. Lessons will include:
* Routine songs
* Fast and slow drumming activities
* Inroduction of a new musical sound - focussed listening
* New instrument introductions - what it's made of? how does it make sound? what are the parts for? what instrument family does it belong to?
* Musical stories
* Musical games
* Poems and Nursery rhymes
AND there will be fully downloadable lesson plans, notes for parents, pictures of all the intruments we meet and fun bits and pieces from Lah-Lah and Buzz!
Most importantly children are learning about music and musical intruments with fun and with the lovable Lah-Lah and Buzz (and Lola the dancing double bass of course)!
Parents and carers will be able to purchase either single lessons or the full unit of 12 lessons at a very minimal cost securely from the Lah-Lah website.
But we need your help to make this happen - together we can bring music to every child!
We would like to pay it forward so here is our idea to give music to as many chaildren and we can: For every unit of music lessons purchased we will donate the same unit to your nominated school, daycare or center. This means that for every unit you buy
for your child, a whole school will have access to these wonderful lessons lessons for their children. It could be your child's school or you may choose another school, it's up to you. It's one of the most fun ways to give and keep giving, for both your child
AND a whole school to have access to Lah-Lah's Music Room! Here in Lah-Lah Land that makes us mighty happy!
So what do we need to do?
To make Lah-Lah's Music Room a reality we need to raise $10,000.
This budget goes towards:
* a camera person
* a camera assistant
* a studio
* an editor
* props and costumes
* makeup
* big website upgrade including infrastructure for downloadables and streaming
The plan is to shoot this very simply, a white studio and colourful magical boxes and props. You see, the magic is in having Lah-Lah and Buzz in your living room teaching your children their very own music lesson.
