Social Entrepreneurial Mobile App (SEMA) Development
Goals:
1) We will host
technical proposal competitions for developers and others who have an interest in social entrepreneurial mobile application development
2) We will host and co-host
appathons to initially develop apps whose profits will be linked to a SEMA Development developers account and distributed to charities
3) We will create
strategic partners with businesses and professionals to then take these
applications and fine tune them to completion
4) We will
launch the created apps that have been fine tuned onto a SEMA Development platform such as iTunes, Droid, etc
5) The proceeds from these apps will then be linked back into
charitable organizations
We are 5 students from Georgia Tech who saw a huge need for organizations that specifically fight human trafficking. We all care about
this cause a lot and wanted to find an innovative way to help put an end to the injustice. We looked aruond us and saw a gap between mobile apps and fundraising and figured that we were in the perfect place to make a difference! Although we care deeply about
ending human trafficking, we saw that this movement could benefit charities that fight all sorts of other injustices today such as poverty, homelessness, etc!
One day we hope to launch a movement that ultimately results in an entirely new "category"
in app stores, Philanthropy. The goal is that as a consumer one day you will be able to buy apps from this category and know that all proceeds from the apps you buy are being donated to charities.
