In 2013 I purchased two pieces of land in a small village in Northern Bali. This land is located in a region called Lovina and is just two minutes away from a family that I have grown to know and love over the last
five years, and now consider my own. It is in the heart of a traditional and vibrant community that is full of lively characters and hope, and is nestled amongst mountains, waterways, tropical fruit trees and is five minutes from a beautiful coastline.
The family I fell in love with.
Lovina is also in one of the poorest regions in Bali, where unfortunately due to poverty, family responsibility and an existing patriarchal society, girls especially miss out. They miss out on education which limits
their future opportunities in employment and in contributing fully to community and family life. It impacts on health and reduces economic return for the individual, the family, the community and the country.
This year I started building Stage 1 of the Lovina Project. Building a dream and building a house! A small house that will be used as an enterprise hub, as accommodation for staff and visitors, and as a launching
pad to help young disadvantaged women from the local orphanage, fishing village and community get their education.
Stage 1: House Foundations
Today I need your help to complete Stage 1 of this project.
Once Stage 1 is completed I can then set about commencing Stage 2 which will be the building of a holiday villa social enterprise on the second and adjoining piece of land. Profits from the rental of this villa will be directed
into supporting the most disadvantaged young women in this community – to give them the chance to dream big – just like we do.
