The project
Quite simply, we want to open a shop. This desire is driven by two factors. First and foremost, we want to provide greater retail reach for our products in order to grow Khmer Creations and continue our mission. We also want our customers to have the most enjoyable experience possible by curating the best of Cambodia’s ethical handmade products, all in one fashionable boutique!
Cambodia, and Phnom Penh in particular, is emerging as a funky, ethical shopping destination – no longer is your tourist shopping limited to mass-produced, tacky souvenirs. Instead, you can buy a range of hand-crafted designer products made by Khmer people who enjoy and benefit from their work.
There has never been a better time to display all that Cambodia has to offer, and never a better time to come and visit.

Who we are
Khmer Creations is a creative and sustainable business that produces handmade jewellery and accessories. We are driven by our economic goal to succeed as a sustainable and viable business, and our social goal to empower Khmer women through financial independence and life skills.
We are committed to promoting ethical trade, raising awareness about exploitative working conditions in Cambodia and empowering women through ethical business. We provide employment opportunities to young women living below the poverty line who would otherwise enter exploitative jobs such as forced sex work or in garment factories.
The Khmer Creations team believe that women have the right to live peacefully, equitably and with the security of economic independence. We use this conviction to guide our program of skills training with Khmer women living in extremely challenging situations. We passionately understand how quality product development and ethical trading can empower Cambodian producers to hold the key to their own bright future.

Our Social business model
Employment – We believe by paying salaries based on the living wage in Phnom Penh, providing health care coverage, child care facilities and a safe and rewarding work environment we are not only impacting the lives of our staff, but the communities around us.
Training – We train our artisans in technical jewellery making techniques as well as business management skills, personal development and financial literacy, team work and leadership, production management, quality control, and ethical and fair trade practices.
Empowerment – Khmer Creations empowers Khmer women through financial independence and life skills. All profits are reinvested to grow Khmer Creations into a leading example of a sustainable social business.
