With One Voice choirs from around Australia come together for a Gala Performance at the Melbourne Town Hall called With One BIG Voice. The event is a celebration of diversity, inclusion, courage, inspiration, community and joy.
Unfortunately, because we are so far away, With One Voice Brisbane has never been able to join the other choirs on the big stage. This year with your help, we too will be singing with more than 400 other voices on the Melbourne
Town Hall stage. For some of us, it will be the first time we have travelled outside of Brisbane or Queensland!
Why is this important?
We know that for some of us, life is a challenge. But regardless of our individual struggles, joy is universal. Singing with other people creates this joy, and it can literally be said that in the case of group singing, bigger is better!
To be part of 400 other voices at the Melbourne Town Hall is a chance to experience joy and exhilaration like we have never experienced before. It has been a journey that started over 12 months ago as an impossible dream. During this time we have done smaller
performances in preparation, rehearsed the joint repertoire and worked as a team to organise everything.
This is important because it will bring incredible joy to us all, but also because it is a project and goal for us to work on together. The sense of accomplishment and achievement when we leave that stage at the end of the performance, and when we finally
make it back to our own beds, will be something that no one can ever take away from us.
Traveling to Melbourne will also allow us to meet our fellow With One Voice singers and build friendships and networks across Australia. As a movement of people we are working to inspire more people to participate in With One Voice choirs and hopefully
set up others (including more in Brisbane) so we can continue to fill the little gaps in society so no one falls through.
What do we need?
We need your help to fund our airfares and accommodation in Melbourne. For $430 per person we will be able to travel to Melbourne and stay in budget accommodation. Even more importantly, with this support, we can create something even bigger than our one
choir and be part of a national movement of singing, friendship, happiness and inspiration that helps create a future where people experience less isolation, depression and anxiety.
