Terry Sterrenberg and Laurie Simons produced The Healthcare Movie out of their own personal funds. Now they find that their documentary has become a major tool for universal healthcare advocates across America.
They plan to join the Drive for Universal Healthcare (DUH) on a tour of the west coast. to promote a tax-supported, fully comprehensive, non-discriminatory healthcare system for all residents of the U.S.
The West Coast adventure will start out in San Diego on April 11th and end up in Seattle on May 3rd, 2014.
Cities throughout the western region are planning screenings of the film for their communities, and they say that having the filmmakers present is a major draw for attendance. Renting a mini van allows Laurie and Terry to travel with singer-songwriter
Bob Wickline and his wife, Lynda, who add musical energy to the presentations.
We have been paying for health care insurance for decades, and yet when we need medical care, we can be swamped with medical bills, deductibles to fulfill, co-pays and co-insurance costs, and limited in-network provider choices. Laurie was
billed by out-of-network pathology labs for more than four times the amount that her insurance company or Medicare would pay.
Meanwhile, health insurance companies are making billions of dollars in profits, and their CEO’s make millions per year from OUR premiums. While Obamacare attempts to regulate some of the most heinous practices, it does not give us a health
care system that is for people instead of for profit.
THERE IS A SOLUTION to the health care crisis in America that costs all of us less, covers everyone, and has better health outcomes. Tax-supported health care means everyone contributes by paying taxes based on their level of income, and everyone
receives medical care whenever they need it.
Tax supported health care is NOT government-run health care. It is government-financed health care. The government collects the money from the people and pays the hospitals and doctors who run their own practices. It is like Medicare, only
for EVERYONE.
We are taking a stand to bring an end to these health care injustices, and demanding that the U.S. join the rest of the industrialized world, and take care of our people. You can take a stand with us by supporting this campaign.
