OUR PASSION
The Fresh Outlook Foundation (FOF) is passionate about "inspiring community conversations for sustainable change." To allow those conversations to unfold, FOF hosts highly acclaimed and hugely popular events such as the Building SustainABLE Communities conference, CommUnity Innovation Lab, Eco-Blast Kids Camp & Concert, Reel Change SustainAbility Film Fest, Breakfast of Champions, Women 4 SustainAbility, Thompson-Okanagan Climate Action Exchange, and Talking DIRTy x 10,000.
OUR PROMISE
Key to FOF's success is its promise to continually refine the design of events that inform and inspire people to adopt more sustainable behaviours at home and work, and in their communities. To boost effectiveness and enjoyment, we use tactics and tools from the emerging fields of social learning, stakeholder engagement, and behaviour change.
OUR PROJECT
To optimize their contribution to the rapidly changing world of community sustainability, FOF leaders and facilitators require focused training in the up-and-coming fields of creative design, conversational intelligence, and collaborative intelligence. Creative design courses are available through IDEO and the d.school at Stanford University. Authors Judith Glaser (Conversational Intelligence) and Dawna Markova and Angie McArthur (Collaborative Intelligence), are available to provide the necessary instruction. They're also keen to explore how their combined wisdom can help accelerate the evolution toward healthier communities.
In keeping with its passion for information exchange, FOF will share what's learned with other communications and sustainability professionals, interested individuals, FOF supporters, and StartSomeGood donors through blog posts, videos, and webinars.
Learning these skills now enables FOF to apply them to the design and delivery of events this fall. These include the inaugural Fresh Dialogues event entitled WAKING THE FROG: Solutions to Our Climate Change Paralysis; a Breakfast of Champions entitled INNOVATION IN MANUFACTURING: Do or Die!; a Reel Change Film Feature about water conservation; and a Women-4-SustainAbility gathering about the link between art and resource protection.
OUR IMPACT
Given what's planned for the rest of the year, and the numbers of people who have attended previous FOF events, the number of people directly affected by attending events in 2016 will be about 500. The number of people indirectly impacted by the people who attend events will be about 2,000. Impacts in 2017 will be much higher, as we've scheduled 1 conference, 3 Fresh Dialogues, 3 Eco-Blast Kids' Camps, 3 Breakfast of Champions, 3 Reel Change SustainAbility Film Features, and 3 Women-4-SustainAbility gatherings. Programs for all events will reflect what we've learned about creative design, conversational intelligence, and collaborative intelligence.
YOUR HELP
FOF's project goal is $10,000, which will be used to cover training costs for FOF leaders and volunteer facilitators. Our stretch goal of $40,000 would enable FOF to apply what it's learned about creative design and conversational and collaborative intelligences in the design of the next Building SustainABLE Communities conference.
Any help you could provide would be much appreciated and put to great use!
