Our Story
Liz and I met in college, but it wasn't until years later that we both realized our shared passion for travel and giving back. Having both had life-changing experiences traveling to Kenya in the past and volunteer with local organizations we both knew that this was and opportunity we wanted to have again except next time share with other women we knew would find it as rewarding and who also had a passion for giving back. So we put out the word and ended up with 9 other phenomenal women joining us to Kenya, women who connect with us on our vision to see more women of color like ourselves, not only traveling but giving back.
Our Project
We will travel to Kenya June 1st- 10th. We will participating and organizing a number of volunteer projects including a day at the Kibera Slums donating food and other goods, two days in Mombasa, Kenya where we will put on a luncheon organized in conjunction with a local group discussing various topics related to career development, self-care and much more for women from the local community. In addition to this, we will be volunteering and staying at Huruma Children's Home, an orphanage in Ngong, Kenya located 2 hours outside of Nairobi, for 3 days doing service projects like funding and painting classrooms at their campus school, as well as putting on workshops for the home's college-bound youth, in addition to other fun enriching activities with the children.
Our Goal
Our goal is to show show Mama Zipporah and others in the local communities of Kenya that we are not just mere travelers coming only to visit and take in their country as tourists. We want to show that we care and many others like us do.
