About This Project

In the midst of all the heart-wrenching Hurricane Harvey news coverage, I overheard both friends and strangers say, “I need to make a donation.” I myself Googled different organizations that could help those in need. Then I got news that my uncle Pablo's family was rescued by a passing fan boat after their home went under water. The next day I heard that my uncle Felix's home had been flooded as well. Unfortunately, neither one of them had flood insurance. After all, they lived above the 100-year flood line so the risk was extremely low.

Donating to some third party non-profit didn’t seem to make sense now that I could give directly to those in need. Every cent I sent them would be used to rebuild their homes (no administration costs, etc). I offer you all the same opportunity. Please think about giving directly to two families that are in desperate need of your help.

Use Of Funds

$5,000 Tipping Point Goal

I hope to provide each family with a minimum of $2,500. They will each end up nearly $20,000 in debt, but with no guarantee I can hit that mark through crowdfunding I'm deciding instead to keep the target to a minimum.

This money will go directly to buy building materials to make the homes livable again. Due to the presence of black mold, every piece of the home that went under water must be ripped out and replaced. Fortunately, my father and friends have the tools and skills to help rebuild the homes. They simply need help with the materials.

  1. Sheet Rock (enough to cover a height of 4 feet on every wall
  2. Insulation for the walls

$20,000 Stretch Goal

That funding goal will simply get rid of all the black mold. I would love to spend each dollar over that amount to help replace the countless other possessions that were lost.
