Hi, I’m Sara Hill, I want to introduce you to Go&Grow Gardens. This initiative aims to help address challenges of ill health, youth unemployment, food insecurity and isolation within my community.
I think we’ve found a way to work on these issues that is positive, builds resilience & health and is sustainable in the long term.
To develop this idea we asked ourselves.
- How can we make active involvement in growing food accessable to everyone?
- How can we connect across our community?
- How can we generate employment?
- How can we use recycled materials?
- How can we deal with a hot dry climate?
We Imagined
Building community, getting people together for meals

and...
we developed the idea of the virtual community garden
and then we asked
How can we make this accessible to more people and generate employment?
To do this we developed the idea of a portable water efficient veggie garden built using locally sourced and recycled materials
The birth of a Go&Grow Garden!
Prototype
I developed a relationship with Justin Forrester from Future Employment Opportunities and he introduced me to the team at the Eaglehawk EcoRecycle centre
They generously agreed to bankroll the production of the first protypes.
What we want to do
We want to make these little beauties available to as many people as possible to rekindle peoples love of and ability to grow their own food.
We want to sell enough to give Travis a job and then others too.

The ask
We need $15,600 to get us over the tipping point, make more, step it up, make version 2, test and develop our markets.
We want to build food security, health and employment. $22,000 will get us started.
