About This Project

Today is Your Time to Shine and Keep the Fires Burning!

We need your help to raise a minimum of $50,000 by the end of this month in order to secure our lease and continue to operate in our current location thru the end of the 2016! Unless we reach this goal, we will be lose our studio space until further notice on March 31. We are currently the ONLY public access studio in Hawaii offering glass studio rentals and full classes from beginner to the experienced glass worker.

This past year, because of your support, our dreams with glass became tangible!

Glass Arts Hawaii allows glass and the arts to enhance our community here in Hawaii and others from around the world. Within our mission we provide public access glass studios, an education facility, and a showroom space for people to experience the glass arts from creation to admiration. Our association developed a variety of education programs for all ages from workshops to semester long classes, including visiting artist classes, internship and scholarship programs, and other ways to assist artists. We have even developed programs to include glass processes otherwise unavailable to the general public on Oahu or Hawaii.

The evolution of Glass Arts Hawaii and its direct influences spreading the arts in our community is succeeding, and will continue to do so only with your financial support!

Use Of Funds

$50,000 Tipping Point Goal

Our efforts here at Glass Arts Association of Hawaii involve high overheads from space, to supplies and utilities, and our $50,000 goal has specific destinations!

  1. $40,000 will go directly towards securing our studio space with new lease terms due to change 4/1/16. The new lease terms would allow Glass Arts Association of Hawaii to take over the lease and continue to operate our studio space thru the end of 2016.
  2. $2,500 towards ordering 2,000 pounds of glass cullet to melt in the furnace for our classes and rental services to last about 2-3 months.
  3. $7,5000 would go towards electrical and gas utilities and pay for 2 months of utilities.

$100,000 Stretch Goal

Our initial goals with this fundraiser are in response to emergency situations in renewing the lease under the name Glass Arts Association of Hawaii by 4/1/16. Our organization relies on community funding to operate and simply cannot generate that amount of money on our own in such a limited amount of time. If we can meet our Stretch Goal of $100,000 we would be able to have more stability in our organization and be prepared for the next 9 months of operations. The $100,000 would ensure our community space in terms of rent, gas, and electricity thru the end of 2016 and the crystal to start the next few months and help with some of the annual repair costs and replacement of perishable tools. Honestly there are many additional costs involved in this organization, but these fundraiser goals will solve the main obstacles we face at Glass Arts Association of Hawaii to keep the community glass studio available to the public thru the end of 2016.

$100,000 Stretch Goal would support 9 months worth of our facility overheads in these ways

  1. $40,000 Rent for 9 months
  2. $22,000 Electricity for 9 months
  3. $18,000 Propane for 9 months
  4. $10,000 of glass cullet supply (about 8-9,000 pounds shipped)
  5. $5,000 Studio Perishable Replacements
  6. $5,000 Repair Supplies
