Carrying Fire.
Do you remember the lightness, curiosity, vitality & force you carried in your body as a youth?
Imagine that fire was tended well, your unique gifts & challenges honoured, validated & supported by a community of peers in a Wilderness setting; far from the gossip and the cares of the town. Imagine wrapping that fire in a secret bundle ready to carry
it forward into young adulthood.
Imagine a duo who are actively going to get that together on behalf of their community. That's us.
Get it Together.
For 3 weeks we'll live wild with a group of educators and teenagers in a transformative wilderness programme designed around the transition from child to young adulthood. In the woods; with bears and wolves and stuff.
We're really excited to travel to where the action is. Working alongside an elder who's been doing it for 25 years, taught from indiginous traditions; drawing upon the best living practices on the planet. There'll be other cultural creatives like us from
other parts of the world too, hopefully we might be able to have the craic around the washing up.
Dougie and I have got a lot of skills between us but we're going on this adventure to get mentored by experts, mirrored by wild nature, go through trial & error, make mistakes, make resolutions & make it happen; for real. Some would say this is exactly
the way one should learn on behalf of their community.
Tending the roots of Resilience.
On our return, we will initiate a yearly “Wilderness Rites” programme for teenagers in the Scottish Highlands; starting in the Summer of 2016.
We'll invite young people to come and participate in a transitional experience on our own land, supported by a trained intergenerational team of volunteers and utilising our indigenous stories, skills, awareness and bushcraft.
We're going to train other facilitators and volunteers how to be their full selves while building the learning culture, relationships, skills, competencies and attitudes necessary to facilitate a holistic, challenging & hilarious journey; placing outdoor
education at the heart of community building.
Leaders of tomorrow...
What are the qualities & values we wish to see exemplified in the future leaders in our society?
'Curiosity, generosity, self-reliance, hospitality, fun, a willingness to mentor the next generation, a sense of inquisitive focus, a care for surroundings, of celebration, care & concern for heritage, a love for one's countrymen and a fierce snse of mischief'.
How will we achieve this? How do we reverse negative trends? We know that these things are already in all of us as part of our human patterning; it takes a nature based culture to value & nurture these potentialities.
So it's pretty simple really....
Our 'Tipping Point' £2200 gets us to Vermont & back again; where we'll co-facilitate, experience & learn from the power of Coyote Camp.
We'd LOVE you to share your personal response to our campaign to people or networks that you care about. An email introducing our campaign, or showing the link to our video; at the very least a cheeky tweet or facebook post helps us get our intention out
there in the world where it needs to be.
There'll be updates by Dougie via
facebook or through his
website & from rhyddian via his
website or via
facebook & twitter.
