Thanks to Medshare, we have a whole shipping container of medical supplies like disposable gloves, beds, sutures, and antibiotics for HAMAT Foundation Community Clinic.
Unfortunately, these supplies are in the Freetown port, about a day's journey from the clinic. Medshare paid for the shipping costs of the supplies from America, but they do not have the logistical support to organize transportation in all of the countries
that they work. The funds raised will be used to rent a truck and transport the container to Jimmi Bagbo.
These supplies are critical for repairing hernias, treating acute injuries, and removing tumors. Before the clinic was built, people suffered for years since they did not have the money to travel to larger towns and pay for treatment.
The men in the community are hard-working farmers and often suffer hernias. Left untreated, they cause constant pain, disrupt work, and will eventually take the men's lives prematurely.
With the money for the truck rental, we can perform more surgeries and enable the community to support their families. Also, when more injuries are treated in a timely manner, it will lead to less infections, and a healthier community.
We need $500 to pay for the truck rental and the fuel that will be used to get to Jimmi. The additional $300 will be used for medical supplies that are easily obtained locally and for maintenance of the clinic itself.
