Food Connect Sydney is all about connecting city folk with farmers and we want to do this as directly as possible... So we're looking to start a rolling series of tours of local and sustainable farmers.
If you think it's important to know who is growing your food and how it is being grown, then we'd love to have you support this new initiative.
Pledges include tickets for yourself, letters from the farmers, corporate package or you can even sponsor a child to go.
The tours will be held on the weekend over the coming months, between 10am-12pm and typically an hour drive from Sydney CBD.Why are farm tours important?
• Show people where their food comes from and the realities of life on a farm
• Link city people with local farmers
• Help people make informed choices when shopping
• Help people think about food miles and food waste
• Educate on sustainable food and promote alternatives to purchasing at large supermarkets.
What will happen on the tours?
• Guided tour of farm and Q&A's
• Practical farming activity
• Guided cooking activity using local ingredients
• Farm stall to buy local produce
• Information pack to take home
