Grand Carers need your help!
Did you know that there are many wonderful Grandparents in our community who are the primary carers for their grandchildren, who are not able to access government funds to help them care for the children. They do a great job, but instead of a happy and relaxing
retirement they are thrust back into a world of child rearing and teenage angst. Some are having to spend their well earned retirement funds on the basics for the kids including food, clothing and accommodation.
The Grand Carers tell us they just want time to be grandparents again and have some fun time with their grandchildren, not just concentrate on the parental issues.
With your help, Fairbridge Grand Carers and Kids Camp will:
- Help the Grand Carers to have a well-deserved break with their grandchildren
- Enable Grand Carers time to discuss issues that they face.
- Give the kids access to some great fun activities
- Give the Kids an opportunity to interact with other kids in the same situation
- Give the families access to great support networks to help them be stronger to face their challenges in future.
- Run a facilitated discussion - Joys, challenges and surviving Grandcaring.
Grand Carers have told us how hard it is for some of their children at school, who are often being asked why they don't live with their parents, making them often feel isolated or different.

Fairbridge Grand Carers Camp will provide for 33 Grand Carers and 37 grandchildren:
- 4 nights at Fairbridge Village in large cottage style accommodation
- Full catering for breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Plenty of kids activities including circus skills, pony rides, craft circle, flying fox, abseiling, superman swing at Fairbridge Outdoor Recreation Centre and old fashion games on the oval.
- Plenty of activities for the Grand Carers including pamper session, dinner out including transport and childcare, beginners yoga and relaxation, facilitated workshops - surviving grandcaring
- Activities for all to share; petting zoo, movie night, theme dress up dinner, Aboriginal story time and fire making
Help us help the Grand Carers be Grandparents again AND give them and their grandkids a memorable and well deserved break. How your donations will help:
$15 allows one child to benefit from participating in an Outdoor recreation session.
$30 provides breakfast dinner and lunch for one person for the day
$110 provides accommodation for 4 nights for 1 person
$250 gives a pamper session for all Grand Carers
$500 gives all kids Pony Rides with Mandurah Murray Riding Develops Ability
$1000 Dinner out for all Grand Carers including childcare and transport OR
$1000 Themed disco, dress up dinner and movie night for all.
