Aboriginal Elders have spoken out about the tragic loss of life in their communities – young people driven to self-harm and suicide in alarming numbers.
It’s a massive problem that’s grown steadily worse over the past 20 years. Compounded by government programs that do nothing to solve the root of the problem: a deep sense of confusion and sorrow among young people at the loss of culture and identity coupled
with the feeling that they are not valued, or wanted.
Now, the Elders are saying, enough is enough.
And they are calling on all Australians to help with the healing.
That healing starts with grassroots programs led by Elders and Community leaders that take young people back to the land and to their culture,
To help spread the message, raise funds for on Country Cultural healing programs and help stop Indigenous youth suicide and self-harm, we are bringing two Elders to Sydney the week of November 17 to speak to the media and promote the findings of
The Elders Report which was released earlier this year by The Culture is Life organisation.
We are seeking the support of the broader community to fund this trip to Sydney for the Elders'.
