“Earthworker is a practical, innovative and visionary attempt
to begin the construction of a new economic system that respects the environment and workers at the same time. Our planet and our economic future depend on the success of such ventures.”
- Colin Long, Division Secretary, NTEU Victorian Division
(and a proud Earthworker).
Support
the transformation for climate and jobs. The time to act is NOW.
We
are facing a climate emergency, in a political climate of inaction and denial. There is no time to wait for solutions from above. In Australia, we are seeing
unprecedented challenges to working conditions and to our social security, and inadequate action on climate change.
We
need to take steps to address climate change, we need to create meaningful employment, we need to support and empower communities to transition away from fossil fuels. This is what Earthworker seeks to address.
Right
now, through unique partnerships with local manufacturers, Earthworker is producing high quality solar hot water systems. Each unit made is a step toward manufacturing in our first worker-owned factories.
We are now facing a moment of opportunity to jump to the next stage in our journey. We have
the chance to transform our small business partner factory in Dandenong into an Earthworker Cooperative factory, beginning the transition into the ‘Eureka’s Future’ worker-owned cooperative. This will also set us up to expand manufacturing of solar hot water
tanks into Morwell, providing sustainable jobs in the heart of Victoria’s coal-producing Latrobe Valley, and in Geelong, where the existing car manufacturing industry is on the verge of total closure.
This
opportunity is open to us for a short matter of weeks, which is why we need your help!
If we are not able to take this chance, it will be a long road before we are in this position again.
Support
local manufacturing, practical action on climate change, and lower energy costs through clean, renewable energy.
By
pledging to our campaign you have the opportunity for your donation to act as a deposit on a high-quality solar hot water system produced through our partnerships.
This is the best way to support our project, while saving emissions and money. To take up this offer select the $100, $440, or $2500 reward and we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the details.
The
BOLT-ON Solar Heat Pump is a highly efficient, stand-alone solar hot water system, designed to produce all the hot water required in residential and small-medium commercial settings.
The
BOLT-ON provides an easy and affordable way to go solar:
-
Minimising your carbon pollution - approx 31.6 tonnes
CO2e
lifetime savings on emissions for a BOLT-ON installed
in Melbourne compared with a conventional electric water heater using grid power based on standard emission factors
-
Saving up to 75% of your hot water heating costs
or up to one third of your household electricity bill (compared to electric element or gas bottle water heaters) – that’s around $600 per year for the average family home!
- No roof-mounted panels required
-
Approximately 7.4kWh of electricity saved per day
on average compared to a conventional electric water heater
- Easy to install
-
Portable, making it a great option for renters
All while supporting worker-controlled renewable energy manufacturing in Australia!
If you questions about our solar hot water system and tank please call us on 1300 GO EARTH (1300 463 27 84).
Through our partnership with Australia’s first customer owned bank, bankmecu, all Earthworker members are eligible for a
special fixed low rate to help them make an effortless switch to solar. For more information on the special offer and details on how to apply, see:

Earthworker
is committed to a just vision of the future, so a percentage of all sales and donations go towards our
Social Justice Fund to install solar hot water in low income households.
We
are really excited to be partnering with the Father Bob Macquire foundation, who will help administer these funds, and install energy-saving hot water systems into social housing units in South Melbourne.
You
can donate specifically for our Social Justice Fund through the $50 or $3000 dollar reward. This will reduce emissions and save money for disadvantaged members of the community.
The
Earthworker Cooperative is uniting a diverse array of individuals, organisations, and communities - including unions, small businesses, environmentalists and power workers -towards a common goal of a safe climate and sustainable livelihoods.
Through
these relationships we are building a social sector market for our products and laying the foundations needed to ensure the future viability and stability of the cooperatives. One way we are doing this is through inclusion in Enterprise Bargaining Agreements,
making solar hot water available to workers to reduce their emissions and save money.
Earthworker
is creating practical community-based solutions to the climate and manufacturing crises in Australia by:
- Producing technology to reduce carbon emissions
- Creating democratic workplaces that support and empower communities
- Providing green jobs for the next generation of workers in coal-dependent regions
- Strengthening the manufacturing industry in Australia
- Providing access to money-saving solar hot water to households across the country through
collective purchase agreements, and installing solar hot water in low-income housing through a dedicated social justice fund.
