Our Story
Do you remember when you were a child and when everything was possible?
Do you remember the first time that you created something from nothing? How that made you feel? How you were able to look back and use that in challenging times?
After all if you managed to do that then you know you can face the new challenge….
At
Future Foundations we create programs that take an idea through to reality so that the children in our program build confidence and resilience in a safe and creative environment. We create a strong foundation for their future and help
them make valuable connections outside their family circle.
The children we work with come from low socio-economic communities and may have faced many challenges already in their lives. Our program provides a support system through our personal mentors (who coach them and help them when they come up against a barrier)
and our creative mentors who teach them how to use their imagination and creativity to communicate, build and express themselves. Our program culminates with an exhibition in Federation Square that the children and their families will always be able to look
back on as an incredible achievement.
We start with a team building workshop, with a cook off, followed by a cultural tour showing them art resources in the city. We then teach them photography, movement and film to help them learn new skills and skills they can use in the program. We have a
few weeks of exploring different creative mediums before they develop their creative concepts and then build/construct/film or create them.
$6,000 Tipping Point Goal
All of the fund raised go directly to the program, to providing the materials that the children use for the workshops and their final works, for installation materials, for the equipment and food we provide during the program and for the final exhibition
costs. Our team is almost entirely volunteers to minimise our costs and to ensure that donations are applied directly to our programs.
Last year we spoke to all of the participants in the program and this is what they said about the program and how it impacted their lives:
All our children strongly agreed that
** the project was a positive experience for them
** they could communicate their artistic activity better now than beforehand
** their classmates became interested in them and their artistic activity
** their artistic activity had increased as a result of the project
** the public exhibition made them more confident in the public arena
** their parents were strongly supportive
** the project helped them to focus on completing other tasks at home and at school
When we spoke to their teachers at the schools we worked with they had noticed the impact on the children in terms of attendance, confidence and involvement and engagement with other children.

Noble Park Primary School Principal
“Noble Park Primary School was very fortunate to be invited to partner with Future Foundations. The students had opportunities to explore and enhance their considerable artistic skills in an environment which was both nurturing and professional. The
quality of the work the students produced was outstanding. Our students would never have the chance to access the highly skilled and committed business and artistic mentors without Future Foundations. It has made a difference in their lives, which they and
their parents have articulated. While I thank all concerned, knowing that those who gave so much would attest to the reciprocity in the learning process, gained from working with the best people in our society- our youth.”
