WHO ARE WE
We are a well regarded Sunshine Coast Indigenous Charity. SevGen Indigenous Corporation is a peak community development organisation and has been doing meritorious work in our community since 2012. SevGen promotes positive functioning and works with the knowledge that art and creative processes empower lives and community.
WHAT IMPACT WILL BE CREATED
This initiative is empowering another cohort of young people in SevGen's HIPSTAs (Highly Indentified Person's Strength Training Academy) programme. This little mob wants to unite and support artists and professionals from alternative, under-represented, and diverse backgrounds. Pushing for a new art movement that creates alternative spaces and platforms for art and music. Together we will foster networks and partnerships with communities and like minded Organisations to support the diverse needs of our creative community including First Nations Artists, Communities and Organisations from Regional and Remote areas. Under the mentorship of SevGen this cohort of HIPSTAs will be creating their own opportunities, fostering the community they build, and creating their own standards. This cohort of HIPSTAs will have the opportunity for a 1 year traineeship and a further 4 year internship to take on full management of the mobile production stage. During this time we will see: -the creation of a new yearly First Nations music and arts production, season dates to be announced in 2022. (of course early discounted tickets access to all donors) -the production will be performed in at least 7 other major festivals each year.
WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY DONE SO FAR
The early conversations about our project have been met with unbelievable enthusiasm resulting in: - formed a wonderful relationship with Keith the stage builder and fellow arts and music lover who is really our first heartul pledger keeping the opportunity open for us to get all of this together - secured forward bookings for our stage production in the inaugural year with several big festivals such as Jungle Love, the Horizon Festival, Woodford Folk Festival pledging upfront booking fee money. -finding an amazing committed, passionate and highly motivated cohort of upcoming production coordinators, corporate travel and tourism advocates and consultants, performers and talent managers aka SevGen HIPSTAs.
