Sacred Era Case Study
Sacred Era, an Australian indigenous streetwear brand, creates designs that tell the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Their most recent clothing collection honors indigenous veterans and contributes partial proceeds towards relevant charities. They needed $35,000 to launch new products and deliver workshops across the country. It was an ambitious mission and their largest campaign yet, but with a passionate team and the guidance of StartSomeGood through co-design support, Sacred Era not only met but also surpassed their goal by raising $40,270 in one month.
In an interview with founder Michael Weir, he reflected on his experience. He found the benefits of premium support to be two-fold. The StartSomeGood team contributed years of experience surrounding the logistics of crowdfunding, helping Michael craft a clear plan and goals. In addition, what he found invaluable were regular meetings with the team, which gave him a sense of reassurance and direction.
“If it’s your first time running a crowdfunding campaign I would highly recommend Upgraded Support. I did a bunch of research to prepare, and even then, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. For me, the extra guidance painted a very clear picture of what it was going to take and what I needed to do to run a successful campaign. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the expertise of the StartSomeGood team."
Michael’s advice to potential crowdfunders: “In crowdfunding, there is no magic crowd. It is important to gain supporters as soon as possible, even before the campaign officially launches.”
