Why we need your support
We're working with a web design firm,
Three Consultants, to build Cahoots. We will use our funds to pay for the wireframes. This will start to put the idea of the website into reality by laying out how the site will look, where the features will be, and how students will navigate the site.
-We need $3000 to build the first set of wireframes for Cahoots.
-We need $8000 to finish all the wireframes and start developing the functionality of each page. That's our total SSG goal!
What is Cahoots?
Cahoots is a web-based platform that combines simple project management tools with issue-based networks so student organizations can better mobilize the causes they care about. Currently, student organizations face the following major problems:
Lost in translation - it's tough to get your message to members through emails, Facebook, Tweets, texts, calls, etc. With so many fragmented ways to contact your teams, something gets lost along the way. Cahoots will create a centralized venue designed for
your organization's internal communications.
Going it alone - Student organizations are already doing incredible work, but it is limited because each group only has a certain amount of reach on their own campus. Organizations want to work together, but it is difficult to find each
other unless you already know someone involved elsewhere. Cahoots will create issue-based networks so you can find other organizations working on causes you care about.
Empty pockets - Student organizations are usually strapped for cash. Local businesses already sponsor campus events and programs for cause-based marketing, but it's based on who you know. Cahoots will engage local businesses so more students
can work with them and businesses can spend less time reaching out out to students.
Why does it matter?
We believe young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the leaders of today. All across the country, students are standing up for the issues and causes that they believe in; they just need to be connected.
Who are we?
Andy and Nate have a combined 12 years of experience organizing students in high school and college. Both served as student body president at
American University. Andy is currently the Executive Director of the DC Student Alliance, which promotes and strengthens the college student community by coordinating the service and advocacy efforts of the region's student
governments. Nate is a senior at American University and a national
Truman Scholarship finalist, in the area of civic engagement among youth. Both founders have seen and experienced great feats in student organizing, but recognize a big void in how organizations collaborate with each other.
How will it be self-sustainable?
Cahoots will be free for student organizations to use. The ultimate purpose of the venture is to mobilize our generation. That is why we will monetize the local business' activity on the site. This way, we give more students access to the tools they need
to do what they are passionate about. Businesses get a more targeted means of cause-based marketing at a rate comparable to other marketing resources.
