Mobility Changes Lives
A bike in the developing world is life changing.
It means access to:
- Education
- Health care
- Fresh Food/Water
- Wider community
- Economic Opportunity
Of the millions of bikes sold each year in Australia around half are ultimately abandoned or unused. Bicycles For Humanity takes unused bikes and sends them to the developing world where they change lives. The project is all about
simple, sustainable empowerment.
More than Bikes
The bikes change lives but without somewhere to fix them they would soon be unusable. So, each shipping container sent becomes a bike work shop which provides:
- Employment
- Skills training
- Business Opportunity
- Economic Stimulus
All seen as the way forward for Africa to move away from aid dependence.
Container #10 and #11
Over the past few years we've shipped around 4000 bikes and been involved in the establishment of seven bike workshops. We've seen how well this model works and how much positive impact it has on whole communities.
We're looking forward to getting the next two containers - another 800 bikes- to those who will get the most beneift from them and we'd love you to be involved.
Be Part of Something Bigger
Bikes change lives in Africa.
Container 10 is waiting to ship and container 11 will be fast on its heels.
We've made it very easy to get involved in this practical and transparent project.
Choose your level of reward on the left - we're catering for a range of tastes - and we'll do the rest.
Every $25 is equivalent to another bike shipped. 800 bikes = a huge amount of good.
