About This Project

Our campaign

We believe that business can be a positive force for change. We believe that in order to make lasting change we need to be self-sustaining. This peer-funding campaign is about getting that model started.

Atma is going to be run as a for-profit company, with one major difference: Atma exists in order to fund projects that improve the global standard of living.

This funding makes that belief a reality. This funding will give us the ability to buy our initial stock, and the sale of that stock will fund new stock, as well as funding bicycles for schoolgirls in rural India.

In this way your support is not a one-off donation that will change a girl’s life. Your support is the start of an engine that will continue to change people’s lives throughout the world.

With your support, we know we can make this happen because the team at Atma have a wealth of experience in running successful businesses, between us we have been in various businesses for 40+ years.

Why Bicycles?

Bicycles have been shown to effectively break the poverty cycle and increase schoolgirls’ enrolment and attendance.

A study done by Karthik Muralidharan and Nishith Prakash called “Cycling to School: Increasing Secondary School Enrollment for Girls in India” found that a bicycle can increase school enrolment by 30%.

The Bicycle

Our first bicycle will be a Fixed Wheel/Single Speed. Made from 520 Cromoly Steel.

Do they get the same bicycle as me?

Atma Cycles goal is to alleviate poverty, this directs every decision we make. With this in mind we support local industries in the areas we give the bicycles.

This not only benefits the local economy and employment but it also means the bicycles we give are familiar to the people in the area. This reduces the potential issues of maintenance and bicycle part’s availability.

The bicycles we give look similar to the below bicycle.

Use Of Funds

$23,000 Tipping Point Goal

Our tipping goal of
$23,000 means we can start the engine of Atma and slowly but surely start making sustainable change.


All of the $23,000 will go straight to suppliers to buy the initial bicycles. We will then be able to start selling our bicycles online as well as to local retailers.


Once we have sold the first 100 bicycles we will be going to the Satara District in Maharashtra to give away our first 100 bicycles.
