Who We Are
The Amani Institute is founded on the belief that there is a gap between what universities offer and what is really needed for 21st century leadership
in practice. The lack of adequately prepared talent is a major roadblock for many innovations and change projects. We seek to fill this void with our
Post-Grad Certificate Program in Social Innovation Management, a new model of higher education
that offers future leaders opportunities to get an intensive experience of cross-boundary work and develop practical skills to build their professional toolkit.
Amani Institute is truly cross cultural and cutting edge, with co-founders hailing from Argentina and India and a team from Kenya, the US and Germany, and an amazing roster of board members, mentors and instructors who are at the forefront in their field
of work.
We have also been featured in Fast Company and
Sustainable Brands, among other publications and are proud to be included in
Edupunk's Atlas of Lifelong Learning by Anya Kamenetz (author of
DIY U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs, and the Coming Transformation of Higher Education).
Why we are we
inviting you to join our campaign
We are passionate about social change and blown away by the army of
changemakers who, on a daily basis, do the hard work it takes to start making the world a better place. They need our program to deepen their experience, acquire necessary skills, and become the leaders the world needs in the 21st century.
Many of these
changemakers, however don’t have the resources to raise money themselves, let alone attend our program. Last year we encouraged students to
crowdfund part of their fees and living costs but we found that they often simply lacked the access to adequate technology and a functioning global network to be successful.
This is where you come in! This campaign will provide 3 future leaders a scholarship to attend our reputed Post-Grad Certificate Program in Social Innovation Management in Nairobi, Kenya. We look for visionary individuals with the courage, empathy and the global
mindset to make sustainable change happen.
As part of a global community of
changemakers, we invite you to join forces with us and exponentially extend your impact in the world by supporting
future leaders of change and on behalf of our
changemeakers. We thank you deeply for your support!
What we have achieved
Our first year was action-packed and intense - with 5 educational programs (including one online) empowering 81 students from over 24 countries.
This is what some of our students and institutional partners say:
"I would like to thank you for the amazing 5 months experience that you offered me as an opportunity. It has been an amazing journey where I learnt SO MUCH that a school/university didn't teach me in 5 years. I have also, learnt a lot about myself. I am very
grateful for all that." - Loubna Sadiki (Morocco), Scholarship Recipient and Alumni 2013
"It is one of the greatest experiences of my life so far. It has a totally innovative approach addressing a variety of topics, e.g.
design thinking, systems change, and at the same time you will have the chance to practice that into different organizations to make a positive social change. Trust me, this is the best social innovation learning-by-doing experience I've ever had."
Jerry Zhu (China), Scholarship Recipient and Alumni 2013
"The Social Innovation Management program is very deep and very well designed; it's exactly what is needed to give you the ability to make a difference."
