The world needs everyday climate activists. It's key to solving the climate crisis.
So we're creating an App to give millions of women around the world a plan on how to live a low-carbon life and transition to a zero-carbon lifestyle (which means living with little to no impact on the planet).
As individuals and in our households, we hold enormous power through the way we live and through every single choice we make.
It's estimated that 17% of the global carbon pollution emissions contributing to climate change comes from our homes, and there are approximately 1-1.5 billion households in the world.
Can you imagine the difference it would make if entire populations bought 50% less stuff, used less plastic, cut our food waste in half, ate less meat, shared more, drove our cars less and divested our money from banks and institutions that invest in fossil fuels?
A million households reducing their electricity by just 20% would shut down two coal-fired power stations. Now that's true power!
That’s what our App is all about - empowering millions of women around the world to be game-changers through their daily choices.

WHAT WILL OUR APP DO?
Our App (which will be free to download) will give you daily climate actions, make it easy for you to track your actions undertaken, and to see how much carbon pollution you have saved that day.
It will give you the tools to cut carbon pollution in the key areas of your everyday life focusing on home energy savings and clean energy options, minimising food waste, reducing overconsumption, investing and divesting (your money) wisely, sustainable fashion, low-impact travel and much more.
Our App will guide and support you at whatever stage of your climate action journey you’re at.

How we live is essential to the solution to climate change, and women are vital agents of change!
If enough of us act collectively we will drastically reduce our individual and household dependency on fossil fuels and the demand for them globally.
Sweeping lifestyle change is crucial in order to limit global warming to below 1.5C degrees. That’s why 1 Million Women is on a mission to be a global organisation mobilising millions of women to be everyday climate activists.

In a country like Australia, women make the vast majority of the consumer purchasing decisions that affect the household’s carbon footprint. This is reflective of many parts of the world. We have influence and power through the way we live. All over the world women are acting in their own lives to cut carbon pollution.
We believe that humanity will reach the vision for a net-zero carbon economy faster - and have a real opportunity to stave off dangerous climate change - through women being prominent in climate solutions in every aspect of life.
We reach millions of women every week through social media. Our blog was viewed nearly 4 million times in 2015 and we have received a United Nations award for the work we do.
